Istanbul-based coffee design firm Etkin is making waves in the coffee industry with its new 2-cup pour-over dripper, which was recently launched on Kickstarter. This campaign builds on the success of Etkin’s previous Kickstarter campaign in 2021, which saw the release of the Etkin 8-cup Dripper to the general public in 2022. Etkin is co-owned by Michael Butterworth, who is also a cofounder of Coffee Compass and an Authorized SCA Trainer.

The Etkin 2-cup Dripper features a unique design that elevates the filter with deep ridges, allowing for a faster flow. The dripper is made from Turkish porcelain and features a double-walled construction for easy handling and better temperature stability. Butterworth, who oversaw the development of the product, noted that he wanted to create a more conventionally sized pour-over dripper, and the success of the 8-cup dripper showed that many people still want to make coffee by hand.

The Etkin 2-cup Dripper was designed in collaboration with Istanbul design firm MODESIGN and manufactured in Kütahya, Turkey. The packaging features hand illustrations from London-based designer Cansu Merdamert. According to Butterworth, the dripper was created within a 200 mile radius, from ideation to prototyping and manufacturing. The company hopes to bring greater transparency to the coffee equipment supply chain and provide traceability for its products, just as it does with its single-origin coffee.

Etkin’s Kickstarter campaign for the 2-cup Dripper launched on April 12, 2023, and will run for 30 days. The company is seeking to raise $5000 to fund the production of the new dripper. With its innovative design and commitment to sustainability and transparency, the Etkin 2-cup Dripper is sure to be a hit among coffee enthusiasts and professionals alike.
